Shangri-La Frontier Season 3 Is Locked for January 2027 — Plus Crunchyroll Adds ELECEED

Good news for gamers-turned-anime-fans: Shangri-La Frontier Season 3 is officially confirmed for January 2027. The announcement gives the VRMMO adventure one of the most concrete return dates in the winter 2027 lineup — and it arrived alongside another notable piece of news, with Crunchyroll also adding the ELECEED anime, slated for early 2027.

Shangri-La Frontier has quietly become one of the most reliable action-adventure anime of the decade. The story of Sunraku — a trash-game connoisseur taking on the premier VRMMO Shangri-La Frontier — delivers exactly what its premise promises: inventive boss fights, a likable ensemble, and some of the best-animated game combat in the medium.

January 2027 Is Taking Shape

A January 2027 premiere puts Season 3 at the front of the winter season, one of anime's strongest windows for action series. The confirmation ends any speculation about the show's future and gives fans a firm date to count down to. After the momentum of the previous seasons, the wait until winter feels entirely manageable.

The series has earned its place in the seasonal rotation. Where many game-themed anime lean on the novelty of their premise, Shangri-La Frontier has sustained itself through genuinely creative encounter design and character work — the kind of show that gets better the longer it runs.

Crunchyroll Adds ELECEED, Iceblade Sorcerer Returns

The ELECEED addition is the other half of the news. The webtoon adaptation is set for early 2027 on Crunchyroll, continuing the platform's aggressive push into Korean webtoon properties. With webtoon adaptations becoming one of anime's fastest-growing segments, ELECEED's arrival is another signal of where the industry is heading.

The Webtoon Wave Keeps Building

ELECEED's addition to Crunchyroll's early-2027 slate is part of a larger shift. Korean webtoons have become one of anime's most reliable new content pipelines, and platforms are racing to lock down adaptations. ELECEED joins a growing roster of webtoon properties making the jump to animation, and its early-2027 window positions it as one of winter's notable new arrivals.

Combined with Shangri-La Frontier Season 3's January 2027 confirmation and the Iceblade Sorcerer's second season this October, the message is clear: Crunchyroll is stacking its fantasy and action lineup deep into next year. For viewers, that means the current golden age of game-and-fantasy anime isn't slowing down — it's accelerating.

And the pipeline doesn't stop there: the Iceblade Sorcerer is getting a second season this October, adding yet another fantasy return to an already packed fall. Between the October premieres, ELECEED in early 2027, and Shangri-La Frontier Season 3 in January, Crunchyroll's next several months are fully loaded.
